The Heckler & Koch G3 (German: Gewehr 3) is a select-fire battle rifle chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO developed in the 1950s by the German firearms manufacturer Heckler & Koch, in collaboration with the Spanish state-owned firearms manufacturer CETME. [2]

The Heckler & Koch HK G3 Rifle was adopted by German Armed Forces as an adaptation to the new standard 7.62x51mm NATO caliber. Initially the Germans were interested in the Belgian FN FAL, and adopted it in 1956 under the designation of G1.
The G3 fires the 7.62x51mm NATO round from 20 round metal or plastic magazines. The G3 fires semi-automatic and fully automatic at a rate of fire of about 550 to 600 rounds per minute. The G3 is a very reliable rifle that functions well in arduous terrain.
