The Peachoid is a 135 foot (41 m) tall water tower in Gaffney, South Carolina, U.S., that resembles a peach. [1] The water tower holds one million U.S. gallons (3.78541 million litres) of water and is located off Peachoid Road by Interstate 85 between exits 90 and 92 (near the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway ).

The enormous steel and concrete erection is actually a one million gallon water tower - in the shape of a giant peach.

21 Αυγ 2021 · If you’ve ever driven through South Carolina on I-85, you’ve no doubt seen the giant, peach-shaped water tower looming just off the highway in Gaffney. “The Peachoid,” as it’s officially called, was built in 1981. It’s 135 feet tall and holds 1 million gallons of water.
The Peachoid is a 1,000,000-US gallon water tank shaped and painted like a peach complete with a green leaf and stem on top. It is 135 feet tall. The City of Gaffney needed an elevated water storage tank. The Gaffney Board of Public Works also wanted to build the tank with federal funds.
Built in 1981 over a period of five months, the iconic water tower features a cleft, a stem, and a seven-ton peach leaf. It holds one million gallons of water and can be seen between exits 90 and 92 off I-85. Made to highlight the region’s favorite crop, the Peachoid’s colors are meant to reflect the varieties of peaches grown in the area.
