Garbage, trash (American English), rubbish (British English), or refuse is waste material that is discarded by humans, usually due to a perceived lack of utility. The term generally does not encompass bodily waste products, purely liquid or gaseous wastes, or toxic waste products.
The effects of waste dumping and improper waste management include: Pollution of soil: Waste can leak hazardous chemicals into the soil and from there into our food. Air pollution: The burning of waste at landfills release toxic substances into the air, including extremely poisoning dioxin.
Solid waste refers to any type of garbage, trash, refuse or discarded material. It can be categorized according to where the waste is generated, for example as municipal solid waste, health care waste and e-waste. Over 2 billion tons of municipal solid waste are produced annually.
