16 Φεβ 2024 · Ultrasound demonstrates fluid deep to medial gastrocnemius and superficial to the soleus muscle, most prominent at the level of the myotendinous junction. A tear in the deep surface of gastrocnemius may be seen as a disruption in contour and echogenicity of muscle fibers.
This study proposes a medial head of the gastrocnemius injury classification based on sono-graphic findings and relates this to the time to return to work (RTW) and return to sports (RTS) to evaluate the prognostic value of the classification. 115 subjects.
High-resolution ultrasound (US) has helped to characterize the "tennis leg injury" (TL). However, no specific classifications with prognostic value exist. This study proposes a medial head of the gastrocnemius injury classification based on sonographic findings and relates this to the time to return ….
Medial gastrocnemius strain represents the most common injury of the posterior compartment of the lower extremity. Ultrasound is a useful tool to assist the clinician in determining the specific cause of calf injury, estimate the severity of the injury, and monitor progress of healing.
24 Ιουλ 2023 · A gastrocnemius rupture can be diagnosed clinically and involves a proximal calf injury after a sudden push off associated with sprinting or jumping. Patients describe symptoms to include a tearing sensation or pop with pain in the calf region.
3 Ιουλ 2006 · Ultrasonography is a useful imaging modality for the diagnosis and follow-up examination for the patients suffering with rupture of the medial head of the gastrocnemius. Keywords: Muscles, Muscle, injuries, Muscle, gastrocnemius, Athletic injuries, Ultrasound (US)
Tennis leg is caused by a rupture of the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle, usually at its distal musculotendinous junction region. However, tears in this muscle and its tendon are also included under the term ‘tennis leg’.
