The Locust Horde, often called Grubs by Serans, was a race of genetically altered humans that established their civilization in the subterranean regions of Sera, known as the Hollow. The Locust originated from genetic experiments at the New Hope Research Facility.

The Locust Horde are the main antagonists of the entire Gears of War video game franchise. They originally live a subterranean lifestyle beneath the surface of Sera by underground tunnels (known as the Hollow).
The Grenadier can be healed by a Kantus and is able to revive other downed Grenadiers. The Grenadier is a playable character in Gears of War 4, available in the Locust Drones Gear Pack. The Grenadier reprises it's role as a multiplayer character in Gears 5 debuting in Operation 4.
