Jennifer Sullivan Sanford (born September 11, 1962) [1] is the former First Lady of South Carolina and a former investment banker. [2] She was married to Governor Mark Sanford.
His wife, Jenny Sanford, became aware of the relationship in January 2009, and it was later revealed that two weeks prior to June 24, Sanford and his wife had begun a trial separation. The woman was later identified as Maria Belén Chapur, an Argentine journalist.
After telling Vogue magazine that her husband was having a "midlife crisis," Sanford's wife, Jenny Sanford, moved out of the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion with the couple's four sons, returning to the family home on Sullivan’s Island.
