Please feel free to tell me what movies (or shows) you think are the best and most faithful to Greek Mythology, and what your own opinions are on my three mentioned movies. Duggy1138 "The Trojan Women" is pretty faithful to the play, sans the gods.
I run a podcast called Around the World in 80 Movies which features one film per episode always from a different country. Very soon we will get to the Greek episode and I would love to hear some suggestions from natives on films they think are brilliant and why exactly you like them so much.
6 Απρ 2021 · A subreddit for learners and speakers of Modern Greek (Nέα Eλληνικά). /r/GREEK initially joined the collective reddit blackout of June 2023 for two weeks and after polling its users, it was decided to return to business as usual.
16 Φεβ 2023 · If you have Roku, you can get ERTflix for free. It has some Greek movies, TV shows, and also live news. (Edited to add: there are likely other ways to get ERTflix, but I found it on Roku and didn't need to look further. A couple of years ago, you could only get it if your IP address was in Greece, but it didn't even ask me this time around.)
18 Σεπ 2023 · Disney+ has all animated movies and series dubbed in Greek. As I mentioned we don’t really like dubbed movies, so movie industry doesn’t dub them unless it’s for kids who can’t read very fast or at all. Harry Potter 1 & 2 (maybe even 3) had been dubbed but the rest of them were only released with subs, no voiceover.
19 Μαρ 2020 · (I'm a native greek speaker) Ι mean, it is great indeed, but I guess sb should have in mind that it includes a lot of word-play, the comedic parts of it at least, if I remember correctly. Unless the subs are good and provide explanation a big portion of what makes the series great would go to waste and some conversation would seem purely nonsensical.
14 Μαρ 2021 · I’ve been trying to learn Greek for the past few months as I’m cypriot, but I’ve been struggling for a little. Can someone recommend any easy songs or movies/shows that could help me practice my Greek. Preferably a movie/show that has both Greek and English like the show “One Day at A Time”.
3 Ιαν 2023 · However there isnt a nice way to find which movies are dubbed, its pretty much just a guessing game of clicking it and trying to find the greek audio option, and there arent many other proper reddit posts like this anywhere so ive decided to make a megapost of all the movies i know of.
Yeah it’s really weird, I had the extension all set up, and today it kept not working and saying it wasn’t updated (I updated everything, uninstalled it, reinstalled it, even tried on a different browser and downloading the extension fresh and it said it was out of date) and going default just says it can’t verify and I tried later today and now apparently the server isn’t responding ...
2 Μαρ 2022 · When I was a child I LOVED the Greek mythology segment of Fantasia but now find the Girl/Boy centaur business super cringy - although the flying horses are still great. Troy isn't a greek mythology movie because the gods (from the Illiad) are cut out of the story. The Greek Tragedy movies are not really mythology based but straight up drama.
