The trail provides excellent views and access to the Green River and surrounding river valley from Cecil Moses Park near Seattle’s south boundary to North Green River Park in south Kent near Auburn. The trail links industrial lands to pastoral landscapes, parks, communities, and river views.
Hiking Green River Trail. At 19 miles from the Cecil Moses Park to the North Green River Park in Kent, the Green River Trail follows it's namesake river through the industrial area near the Duwamish east into the broad Green River Valley, offering changing views along the way.
The Green River Trail currently stretches 21.1 miles through the industrial heart of the Green River Valley from the southern suburbs of Seattle to Kent, connecting to a number of neighborhoods and parks. The Green River Trail follows Washington's scenic Green River for its entire route.
The Green River Trail provides a chance to walk in quiet, shady forest under giant Douglas-firs and western red-cedars that have survived the ages. Starting in a volcano blast area that was salvage logged and replanted in Douglas-fir monoculture, the trail follows the Green River west down the glacier-carved valley.
The Green River Natural Area is about seven miles east of Auburn and roughly six miles northwest of Enumclaw. The natural area is comprised of the former Metzler, O'Grady and Green River Waterway parks, which all lie along the Green River.
