Haunted Castle [a] is a 1987 action-platform game developed and released by Konami for arcades. It is the second arcade game in the Castlevania franchise, following Vs. Castlevania, an arcade port of the original 1986 NES video game released in North America.

Haunted Castle found its way into western arcades around the same time Castlevania hit the NES. You've probably never heard of it, and there's a reason for that: It didn't fare too well because of its limited availability and its insane challenge-level.
23 Οκτ 2023 · Haunted Castle is one of the forgotten Castlevania titles, released for arcades without any explicit connection to the series (at least in America and Europe). It's also hella hard. Good music, though. To do: There's likely more revisional differences...and wasn't there some third version, too?
A remake of the 1986-1987 NES game Castlevania, Haunted Castle follows whip-bearer Simon Belmont as he must rescue his bride Serena from the clutches of the evil Count Dracula.

Haunted Castle isn’t a port though, but a whole new side-scrolling (and sometimes up and down) platform adventure, designed specifically for arcade play and to take advantage of that hardware’s extra oomph.
