Abraham Joshua Heschel (January 11, 1907 – December 23, 1972) was a Polish-American rabbi and one of the leading Jewish theologians and Jewish philosophers of the 20th century.
The Abraham Joshua Heschel School (AJHS) is a pluralistic nursery to 12th grade Jewish day school in New York City named in memory of Abraham Joshua Heschel, a major Jewish leader, teacher, and activist of the 20th century.
Heschel is a private day school in Los Angeles with a dynamic transitional kindergarten through eighth grade educational community grounded in Jewish values. Located on a three-acre campus in the North San Fernando Valley, the sense of inspiration and engagement that have been the hallmark of Heschel since its inception in 1972 are unmistakable.
