13 Σεπ 2024 · As valuable as the tests are, understanding what a high RBC, low MCV, or low MCH mean can be difficult and confusing. But, with a little insight and education, you can make sense of the different tests and participate more actively in your healthcare decisions.
A high RDW may be the only indication of simultaneous microcytic and macrocytic disorders; such a pattern may result in a normal MCV, which measures only the mean value. The term hypochromia refers to RBC populations in which the MCHC is < 30%.
8 Ιουλ 2024 · CBC: With microcytic anemia, you may have a normal or low red blood cell count, a low mean corpuscular volume (MCV) that is below 80–100 femtoliters, red cell distribution width (RDW) that is normal or high, and a mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) that's below 27–31 picograms per cell.
