History. [edit] Quipayo Church. In 1578 when the head Mission of Quipayo was established, Calabanga was only a visita or barrio. At that time, the place had vast forests and swamps and an abundance of wildlife such as monkeys, wild chickens, and forest lizard.
Calabanga is a coastal municipality in the province of Camarines Sur. The municipality has a land area of 163.80 square kilometers or 63.24 square miles which constitutes 2.97% of Camarines Sur's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 88,906.
