Honor Flight Network recognizes American veterans for your sacrifices and achievements by flying you to Washington, D.C. to see YOUR memorial at no cost. Top priority is given to World War II and terminally ill veterans from all wars.
Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois covers airfare, bus fare, entry fees, food, and supplies. Veterans must apply to be selected for a flight. Deadlines for specific flights apply, generally 90 days prior to flight date. Applications are accepted online and by mail using our Veteran Application.
Who is eligible for Honor Flight trip? Any veteran who served in a branch of the U.S. military during WWII, the Korean War or Vietnam , or a veteran from any service era who is currently term inally ill, is currently eligible to go on an Honor Flight trip as an honored veteran free of charge. Who is eligible to apply for an Honor Flight? Veterans who have served during war time are eligible to apply with HFDFW. To be considered by the VA to have served during wartime, a veteran need not have served in a combat zone, but simply during one of these designated periods.
If you are an eligible Veteran and would like to participate in an Honor Flight (free), complete and submit the ONLINE VETERAN Application. You will have the option to select the trip to Washington D.C. or the “Flightless Program”. The minimum age for the trip to Washington D.C. is 75 years of age.
