Railgun starts a bit slow compared to the manga, after quite a few episodes of SoL it will pick up the pace. Also if you don't mind reading I would heavily recommend the Index ...
OT1 (Index arc)--The beginning of the series; starting from the beginning before skipping ahead can help you get used to the LNs and Kamachi's writing style. OT2 (Deep Blood arc)--The anime left out a big section that had quite a bit of early character development for Touma. Would in particular recommend reading this.

I'd recommend the optimal chronological order: Railgun > Index 1-9 > Railgun S > Index 10-END > Accelerator -> Index II 1-7 > Endymion > Index II 8-END > Index III 1-6 > Railgun T > Index III 7-END. Or the simplified chronological order:

Index as a series is MASSIVE. There are over 50 mainline novels, like 10 side story novels, and a host of spinoff stuff like the Railgun, Accelerator, and Astral Buddy manga. Index is split into Old Testament (seasons 1-3, 22 novels), New Testament (23 novels) and Genesis Testament (3 novels currently ongoing).
2 Αυγ 2015 · After you finish 22 make sure to start New Testament! Edit: the Index and Railgun SS's are different. You don't have to read the first Index because it's in the anime. The second one should be read after volume 16 iirc. The Railgun SS's are the light novels that feature the Railgun cast. (Even though Railgun is a Manga series)

Yes, in response to your question there are many open directories accessible ( r/opendirectories ). Check out Moviefiles and Filepursuit.
