1 Μαρ 2005 · Inhibin B is secreted by antral follicles in response to FSH, and is the major marker of follicular growth. Thus, inhibin B level is a marker of ovarian function, which may become a useful tool to identify the potential ovarian responsiveness to ovulation induction.
Serum inhibin B levels are strongly positively correlated with testicular volume and sperm counts. In infertile patients, inhibin B decreases and FSH increases. In general, there is very good correlation with the degree of spermatogenetic damage, with the arrest at the earlier stages having the lowest inhibin B levels.

Circulating inhibin B is an established measure of spermatogenesis and Sertoli cell functionality, correlating with testicular size and sperm count. Inhibin B levels may also predict adult fertility in juveniles with conditions affecting testicular function.
Inhibin B is a peptide hormone that is produced primarily by growing antral follicles that are responsive to FSH. As the follicle continues to grow and become dominant, inhibin B secretion declines. As the growing pool of antral follicles decreases during aging, levels of inhibin B are diminished.
14 Απρ 2016 · This normative model suggests that 35% of the variation in Inhibin B levels in young males is due to age alone, provides an age-specific reference range for inhibin B in the young healthy male population, and will be a powerful tool in evaluating the potential of inhibin B as a marker of Sertoli cell function in pre-pubertal boys.
