The John Deere B from 1935 to 1938, often referred to as the “unstyled” version, marked its entry into the farming world as a compact yet robust row-crop tractor. With a hand-crank starter and a simple yet effective design, it became a reliable workhorse for many farmers during the Great Depression.
The John Deere Model B tractor was a two-plow row-crop tractor produced by John Deere from 1935 to 1952, with direct successors produced until 1960. The B was a scaled-down, less expensive version of the John Deere Model A. It was followed by the updated 50, 520 and 530 models.
6 Νοε 2020 · Deere advertised the model “B” as the ideal tractor for the smaller row crop farmer. Farmers accustomed to using two teams of four horses were told that this one machine could take the place of all eight of them.
Introduced late in 1934 as a 1935 model, the Model B was a medium-sized tractor, able to pull a plow with two twelve-inch bottoms. It had steel wheels, four speeds forward and reverse, and a belt pulley and a PTO, which was a splined shaft at the rear of the tractor powering implements, as standard equipment.
