The Stanford Journalism Program provides a unique opportunity for students to showcase their talents as prospective authors and journalists. Each student will launch an intensive, in-depth inquiry into an area that he or she is personally interested in examining and critiquing at length.
The Mundus Journalism master's degree offers a curriculum that is uniquely focused on developing an analytical and critical lens on journalism, media and globalisation. Since 2005, Mundus Journalism has been connecting people and building networks of like-minded peers and colleagues across the globe!
The 90 ECTS curriculum is 55% academic theory and 45% journalism skills. The academic theory courses include theoretical specializations such as Journalism and Political Culture, and Global Journalism, research seminars looking at topics such as News and Audiences and of course a Master's Thesis.
All of the five core (i.e. required) journalism courses are 4 credits each. Although students are generally encouraged to complete core courses in sequence, a couple of core courses can be completed out of sequence and/or concurrently.
Through the graduate degree in the field of journalism you: Master the latest reporting, writing, and technical skills for traditional and digital media — skills that are also essential to a range of communications careers, including public relations, marketing, development, and fundraising.
The Master of Science degree is the foundational program of the Journalism School. Students in the M.S. program are on the street reporting from day one, learning to think critically and act ethically.
Our Master of Journalism degree is immersive, rigorous and demanding – it requires a two-year commitment, because it takes two years to master the craft, fully engage in the culture of journalism, and absorb the skills of storytelling.
