Using the Kansas Benefits card, or EBT card, to purchase groceries online, the card will function like a debit card, and the same guidelines will apply. Click here for a list of eligible foods. Food assistance benefits cannot be used to pay for grocery delivery fees.
The Food Assistance Program is a nutrition assistance program which provides a Kansas Benefit card (plastic debit card) to eligible persons to purchase food. How does the program work? Monthly benefits are provided on a Kansas Benefit card, which looks and functions like a debit card.
The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, provides qualifying low-income households with food benefits, access to a healthy diet and education on food preparation and nutrition. In Kansas, the program is known as the Food Assistance Program.
Currently, two EBT cards can be used to access benefits; the Vision Card and the Kansas Benefits Card. Benefit authorizations are transmitted to FIS in one of three ways.
EBT card = a card that looks and works like a debit or credit card but is loaded with food stamps (also known as SNAP benefits) and/or cash benefits. You can use it at stores that accept EBT. You’ll get the Kansas Benefits Card once you’re approved for benefits.
You can use your Kansas EBT Card at participating stores, online at approved retailers, and at ATMs (cash machines for Cash benefits only) across the country.
