Rehabilitation Services offers a variety of programs to meet the diverse needs of Kansans with disabilities. Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services are the cornerstone of our efforts to empower Kansans with disabilities to become gainfully employed and self-sufficient.
The Kansas Department for Children and Families (formerly the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services) is a state agency in Kansas, responsible for the delivery of social services to those in need of them.
Kansas Child Support Services (CSS) helps children receive the financial support necessary for their growth and development. The program assists by establishing parentage and orders for child and medical support, locating noncustodial parents, enforcing child and medical support orders, and modifying support orders as appropriate.
The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) was established in 1973 as an umbrella agency to oversee social services and state institutions. With a mission to protect children and promote adult self-sufficiency, SRS serves over 500,000 Kansans today.
In 1996 and 1997, the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS), now known as the Department for Children and Families (DCF), privatized family preservation, adoption, and foster care services.
