Behavioural effects seen with LEV treatment could be positive or negative. Examples of positive effects include: increased energy, vigilance, and activity. Aggression, irritability, hyperactivity and nervousness are frequently observed negative effects. Overall, 2.2% of children receiving LEV had to stop taking the drug due to toxicity.

Levetiracetam usually causes only mild side-effects which should get better as your child’s body gets used to the medicine. If they are still a problem after 2 weeks or you are worried, contact your doctor, but continue to give levetiracetam.
