Newspapers. Ever since the first issue of The Lawson Gazette appeared on April 8, 1881, a weekly newspaper has been printed in the town. The name has changed several times over the years, but it is the county’s oldest newspaper to claim uninterrupted publication.
Lawson, Missouri started off as a railroad town in 1870. Now 150 years later, the community has grown into one of the best places to live and raise children in the entire Midwest! The name of the newspaper was changed for the May 11, 1916, edition from Ray County Review to The Lawson Review, the name under which it still functions. September 2, 1920: J. W. Halstead, editor. In 1920 C. M. Marston purchased the newspaper and became editor.
