As medical advances diminished the demand for tuberculosis treatment, community leaders decided the center should meet a new need. Community-based Lutheran Hospital, a not-for-profit, general medical facility located on a 100-acre campus, opened its doors in 1961.
Lutheran Hospital opened in 1961 and grew along with the county, expanding significantly in 1964 and 1968. The 1970s brought a name change to Lutheran Medical Center , a six floor tower addition in 1973, and expansion of the Critical Care Unit in 1985.
17 Ιουλ 2024 · On Aug. 3, 2024, a new chapter begins in the story of medical care in Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County and the West Denver metro area. On that day, more than 1,800 caregivers will begin to care for patients and the community at the new Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital.

Construction is now officially underway on Lutheran Medical Center’s new hospital in Wheat Ridge. The state-of-the-art facility—which will anchor the Clear Creek Crossing development at I-70 and 40th Avenue—has been meticulously designed to meet the healthcare needs of patients and staff today and for decades in the future.
