Il vulcano sottomarino del Marsili è il più esteso ed elevato vulcano attivo del Mediterraneo e d’Europa, posizionato nella parte centrale dell’omonimo bacino oceanico. Ha una struttura allungata in direzione NNE-SSO ed è costituito da più fratture eruttive allineate e da oltre 80 centri eruttivi minori (coni avventizi).
