In general, meniscus transplants last longer and are more successful when the patient’s knee joint is stable and properly aligned. That’s why it is important that the surgeon restore knee ligament stability and alignment as part of the meniscus transplant surgery.

The short-and mid-term efficacy of the procedure has been reported successful in terms of pain relief and functional improvement.

18 Ιουν 2024 · MAT is an effective procedure in reducing pain and restoring function in the meniscal deficient patient. With 10-year success rates around 80% and return to sport rates above 70%, MAT provides favorable long-term clinical outcomes in appropriately indicated patients.
The item most likely to be of interest is our success rate. There were no failures among the 61 patients who met the inclusion criteria (we defined failure as revision procedure related to the initial MAT or as conversion to knee arthroplasty). A success rate of 100% is an unusual result.
Current evidence shows that MAT improves pain and mechanical function in the mid to long term with patients reporting significantly improved outcomes at up to 15 years following surgery. Studies on survivorship showed up to 76% graft survival at 10 years.
