Add that book before you add the sharpness book, for (7 sword PWP + 7 book PWP + 5 enchant) 19 levels, and then add the sharpness book for (15 sword PWP + 15 book PWP + 5 enchant) 35 levels. It is in fact possible to make a perfect sword with lots and lots of level 1 books (Sharpness 5, Knockback 2, Fire Aspect 2, Looting 3, Unbreaking 3, Mending). it costs 151 total levels, and takes 29 books.
26 Αυγ 2014 · You can add any enchantment to any armor,weapon ect. Just need to know the enchant ID. The highest you can add is 30,000.
But when it comes down to it, sword fighting is very important in Minecraft PVP. It's the most basic weapon; the easiest to craft, the easiest to use. I very rarely fight someone who is not a swordsman. The question for me, is, what techniques can you use in sword fighting? So, I created this forum post.
As said before, you need a mod or a 3rd party tool such as INVEdit to do it. I personally would suggest using Not Enough Items or Too Many Items as using INVEdit takes a bit longer to do each time you want to edit your inventory.
Unless you are not bringing the mobs down to 1 hit kill, you should have sweepeing edge 3 and maybe some sharpness (obviously 5 is best). Then you can have looting 3 so you also get more drops and mending so your sword last forever. Going by your question which is about xp farming though, you dont need any enchants to farm exp.

A diamond sword with sharpness 4 needs 2 hits to kill a squid. etc. So yes a lot has changed and while you can swing a little faster with higher level sharpness swords , outside of tests against static mobs , it doesn't really matter since you most likely will push the mob outside of range anyway after the first hit.
Not because I like spam clicking, but because in under 2 seconds it out DPS's a Diamond Sword with 22.5 dmg vs 21, (mainly due to 4 spam hits with the axe vs 3 timed hits with the sword, 22.5 v 22.4 mathematically) and also because of the shield disabling system.
