518A.34 COMPUTATION OF CHILD SUPPORT OBLIGATIONS. (a) To determine the presumptive child support obligation of a parent, the court shall follow the procedure set forth in this section. (b) To determine the obligor's basic support obligation, the court shall:
518A.35 GUIDELINE USED IN CHILD SUPPORT DETERMINATIONS. Subdivision 1. Determination of support obligation. (a) The guideline in this section is a rebuttable presumption and shall be used in any judicial or administrative proceeding to establish or modify a support obligation under this chapter.
Generally, to get a child support order in MN, the custodial parent and the child must have lived in the state for at least 180 days (6 months) before starting the case. See Minn. Stat. § 518C.201 for information about non-residents.
