Once it rebooted I lost my desktop icons and taskbar. I searched through many online forums for a solution to this and attempted around 15 of them with no luck. I am running Windows XP sp2 on a Dell. I will sum up the problem - 1) no desktop icons, 2) no taskbar, 3) right click functionality is not working,

My Windows XP only show Taskbar without taskbar buttons. I can change Task Windows using Alt+Tab Keys. In task Manager, there is show All open windows and task.
27 Ιαν 2011 · I am not able see any desktop icons, taskbar in my Windows XP system. Also none of the keyboard shortcuts like Win Key + R, Win Key + E are not working. Yesterday I installed AVG 9.0 in my machine and was working fine.
Turned on computer and all of the icons and start up task bar are gone on Windows XP. Can get to files and applications through Windows Task Manager. Tried to find a solution in a forum but nothing.

20 Μαρ 2014 · Type explorer.exe and click OK to bring back a fully functional taskbar with lots of lovely icons. As for getting to the root cause of the problem, there are a couple of things worth trying. sfc /scannow. If you have your Windows XP installation CD to hand, pop it into your drive and exit out of the wizard that automatically appears.
