Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private engineering institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1949 by C. Rajam. The institute is one of the 4 constituents of Anna University but in the year 1978, it was merged in Anna University.

It was established in 1949 by Chinnaswami Rajam as the first self-financing engineering institute in the country and later merged with Anna University.

MIT Chennai offers 36 specializations across six courses. They are B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Phil, M.Sc, MS (Research) and PhD. For admission to B.Tech, a candidate has to pass 10+2 with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For selection, the candidate must go for TNEA counselling.
