Located in Stanly County 50 miles northeast of Charlotte, Morrow Mountain State Park provides a myriad of adventures from the summit of the namesake mountain, along the banks of the Yadkin River State Trail, and to the shores of Lake Tillery.
Morrow Mountain State Park is one of NC's best kept little secrets. It is beautiful site where several rivers meet and beautiful rolling hills. Wear comfortable shoes, enjoy the day. It is worth the trip even if you are not a hiker or into kayaking.
19 Οκτ 2020 · Native American projectile points made of rhyolite, a volcanic rock, from the Uwharrie Mountains have been found throughout Eastern North America. The observation decks atop Morrow Mountain face east, but multiple sites along the edge of the large parking lot offer views of the sunset and other parts of the park and the Uwharries.
In 1884, one year after Dr. Kron's death, a hurricane stripped what is now Morrow Mountain of its trees, giving the mountain a bald appearance, as can be seen in many old photographs. The mountain then became known as "Naked Mountain."
