The 3,776-meter-high (12,388 feet) Mount Fuji Volcano, located on the island of Honshu in Japan, is one of the world’s classic examples of a stratovolcano. The volcano’s steep, conical profile is the result of numerous layers of lava and debris from explosive eruptions, including ash, cinders, and volcanic bombs, that build up over time.
Fuji, Japan’s tallest volcano (3,776 m) and a national symbol, is located about 110 km (70 miles) west-southwest of Tokyo in central Honshu, Japan. It is a highly recognizable target from space. The summit crater is about 250 m deep, with a diameter of about 500 meters.
Mount Fuji (ふじさん, English: Mount Fuji) is an active volcano spanning between Shizuoka Prefecture (Fujinomiya City, Susano City, Fuji City, Gotemba City, Anderson-gun Oyama Town) and Yamanashi Prefecture (Fujiyoshida City, Minamitoryū County, Naruto village).
