Dawud (Arabic: دَاوُوْد, romanized: Dāwūd) is a prophet and messenger of God in Islam, and a righteous king of Israel. He received the Zabur (Psalms), defeated Jalut, and was a viceroy on Earth.

The young man was David (Dawud), from the city of Bethlehem. His elderly father had chosen three of his sons to join Saul's army.
