The Naughton Protocol is a specific graded exercise testing protocol designed to assess cardiovascular fitness and functional capacity in individuals, particularly useful for patients with cardiovascular conditions.
The modified Naughton protocol is recommended for treadmill exercise testing in patients with heart failure. 9 This protocol is designed to increase the workload by approximately 1 MET (3.5 ml O 2 /kg/min) for each 2‐minute stage.
