The NC Main Street program provides downtown strategic economic development planning and project-specific technical assistance to 81 communities in the Main Street programs.
The NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center is a Main Street America™ Coordinating Program and works to stimulate economic development within the context of historic preservation, using a comprehensive approach to downtown revitalization.
Communities that have been accepted into the NC Main Street, Small Town Main Street, and Downtown Associate Community programs are required to undergo annual training. Below, you will find information about the upcoming trainings sponsored by the NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center.

The North Carolina Main Street program staff guides designated communities through a strategic planning process. This process helps communities create a vision, develop economic development strategies that will transform downtown, and produce action plans so that limited resources are focused and results magnified.
