Northstar Digital Literacy defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. Online, self-guided modules assess the ability of individuals to perform tasks based on these skills. Included are basic computer digital literacy standards and modules in three main areas:
The Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment is a group of standards-based interactive assessment modules that measure adult digital literacy skills at a basic level. Each assessment moves the learner up a level in their digital literacy skills.

Identify specific computer hardware (system unit, monitor, printer, keyboard, mouse or touchpad, ports, touchscreen). Log on to and shut down a computer.
Northstar has three parts to learning digital literacy: Assessments (Tests): You can take assessments (tests) to check the skills you have and find out what skill areas you could improve. Northstar Online Learning (NSOL): NSOL has videos and activities to help you learn and practice digital skills.

Northstar provides assessments, instructor-led curricula and self-directed online learning for basic digital literacy skills. Subscribing organizations can use Northstar resources to determine needs, provide relevant instruction, and track results.
