In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 (39 of 1972), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement.-(1) These rules may be called the Payment of Gratuity (Central) Rules, 1972.
The gratuity payable under the Act shall be paid in cash or, if so desired by the payee, in Demand Draft or Bank Cheque to the eligible employee, nominee or legal heir, as the case may be.
