Penns Grove was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 8, 1894, from portions of Upper Penns Neck Township (now Carneys Point Township), based on the results of a referendum held two days earlier. Pennsgrove Carneys Point Oldmans Historical Society. The Society was started in 1999 when a small group decided that it was important to preserve the history of Penns Grove and to be able to share the history with others.

The society goal is to preserve the history of Penns Grove, Carneys Point and Oldmans. Open Sunday from 1 - 3 pm. There is a fee of $5 for non-members who wish to do research.
