  1. We know that when you polymorph in D&D 5e, per the spell, you lose access to your class features, as discussed in this question. However, polymorph does not say it cancels on-going effects on the target. My specific question is: If a raging barbarian is subject to polymorph, does their rage end or continue?

  2. 16 Δεκ 2020 · Dispel Magic is easier to use than Polymorph It's not that hard to toss a spellcaster or two into a fight, and even less difficult to give magic items to the NPCs. Access to something like a Wand of Dispel Magic , if you choose to homebrew such a thing, can make Polymorph -ing less worthwhile ( much less worthwhile if the wand casts at 4th level or greater).

  3. 22 Νοε 2022 · \$\begingroup\$ For future readers looking for more opinions / ways to handle Conjure Woodland Beings without it being game-breaking, the Dungeon Dudes have done some videos with thoughtful discussions pointing out what the rules say, and the "talk to the DM first" aspect before trying something cheesy like that. timestamped links: Five Gamebreaking Spells in D&D 5e (and how to handle them ...

  4. The polymorph spell mentions that the creature assumes the new form's hp. As long as that hp doesn't hit 0 hp, the creature doesn't revert. But it doesn't state that you can't polymorph a creature at 0 hp. As such, could you technically polymorph an unconscious creature to prematurely wake it up?

  5. 21 Απρ 2015 · (Semi-)permanent polymorph is the only way I can see Polymorph being implemented. 0 HP and death are inferred to break you out. Whether the target has a continual, self-sustaining magic field "permanently" supporting the new form is up to the DM. I would personally say Dispel and Antimagic should atleast suppress permanency.

  6. 15 Απρ 2019 · I was discussing the spell with my DM relating to this question Can a Wizard polymorph low-level PCs into over-powered beasts? about the polymorph spell. According to Polymorph's description, The new form can be any beast whose challenge rating is equal to or less than the target’s (or the target’s level, if it doesn't have a challenge rating).

  7. 6 Νοε 2022 · The classical high end beast for polymorph is the Tyrannosaurus Rex, as it can freely move around on land, has a lot of hp, and a nasty bite. Conveniently, it also is CR8. Alternatively, especially if you need something with more intelligence that can carry out a simple plan, you can use the CR7 Giant Ape.

  8. 25 Μαρ 2020 · I have read that the polymorph and power word kill spell combo can be annoying for DMs but I'm confused on why it works. In the description for the polymorph spell it states: The transformation lasts for the duration, or until the target drops to 0 hit points or dies.

  9. Disintegrate and Polymorph both have effects that happen when the subject is reduced to 0 hit points. Disintegrate says: If this damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, it is disintegrated. Polymorph says: The transformation lasts for the duration, or until the target drops to 0 hit points or dies. Which takes precedence?

  10. 27 Φεβ 2016 · \$\begingroup\$ @findusl The reason for Polymorph not having that requirement is that when you cast Mass Polymorph, you get to choose the type of creature they turn into, whereas in Polymorph it is the DM's choice. There's no point in having such a limitation when you don't have a choice to begin with. \$\endgroup\$ –
