31 Ιουλ 2018 · Invoking the name of Jesus has power—power we can’t always see or fully understand. As St. Paul wrote, “[E]very one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved” (Rom. 10:13). If we desire for our loved ones to be saved, we need them to understand the power of that name.

The Church apparently agrees with this assessment because it sets aside January 3 as the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. It is a reminder to us to greatly reverence Jesus’ name the rest of the year.

Hence, the quiver of an intercessor cannot be complete without it. The name of Jesus is the seat of authority. St. Paul highlights the power that is intrinsically connected with this name when he says:
Holy Name of Jesus. — We give honor to the Name of Jesus, not because we believe that there is any intrinsic power hidden in the letters composing it, but because the Name of Jesus reminds us of all the blessings we receive through our Holy Redeemer.
The name Jesus is endowed with immense power! Saint Bonaventure. We come to consider how this holy Infant, now born spiritually, shall be named. I think there is no name more fitting for him than Jesus, for Scripture says: He was called Jesus (Lk 2:21). This is the most sacred of all names.
For centuries, Christians have invoked the Holy Name, and have believed that there is intrinsic power in the name of Jesus. [3] [6] [7] In Luke 1:31, the angel Gabriel tells Mary "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus."
