Nationwide observed seat belt use in 2022 was 92% for drivers and 90% for right-front seat passengers (Boyle, 2023). Belt use is lower in the back seat: 82% of rear-seat occupants were observed using belts in 2022. Forty-five percent of passenger vehicle drivers and 51% of front seat passengers killed in 2022 were confirmed to be using belts.
