1 Μαΐ 2020 · The EAT– Lancet Commission concluded that global red-meat consumption needs to decrease by more than 50% to achieve a healthy sustainable diet. Globally, average per-capita consumption of meat is increasing, although there are large disparities in intake between different parts of the world.
We used nationally-representative cross-sectional survey data to analyze consumption of unprocessed red meat; processed meat; and total red and processed meat. Generalized linear models were used to separately estimate probability of consumption and adjusted mean intake.
10 Ιουλ 2023 · Globally, production and consumption of all types of meat has increased substantially in the last 50 years, and – although red meat consumption is now plateauing in high-income countries (HICs) – is predicted to increase by a further 50% by 2050.
Expressed in tonnes of meat. Data from 1961-2013 is based on published FAO estimates; from 2013-2050 based on FAO projections. Projections are based on future population projections and the expected impacts of regional and national economic growth trends on meat consumption.
The average person's consumption includes pigmeat as the predominant choice, followed by poultry, beef/buffalo meat, and mutton & goat meat, with other types of meat making up a smaller fraction of the overall consumption.
