Rio Monte Trail 1E28. Area Status: Open. The hike up to Jenks Lake is a wonderful warm-up to more daring adventures in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. The trail, steep though short, provides an excellent cardiovascular workout along what was once a logging road.

The forest is abundant with wonderful day hikes to choose from. We've listed several of our favorite trails for you to explore. Lower elevation trails (less than 5,000') are best for fall/winter/and spring hikes. Upper elevation trails are best hiked in the summer months, unless you are ready and equipped for a snowshoeing adventure!
