The two main types of small nest box offer opportunities for different species of bird. Those with a small hole may be used by tits and sparrows, while open-fronted boxes are used by Robins and Spotted Flycatchers. With hole-fronted boxes the diameter of the hole is key.

Cut pieces of wood to the following dimensions: Side section template. Each square is 1" x 1". Note the sloped top edge where the side section meets the roofline. The side pieces feature a wide arc. The curve of the arc is not critical, but I wanted both sides to match.
