The following sections discuss activities and roles of local, state, and federal public health agencies. These discussions are followed by a series of recommendations targeted at what official public health agencies can do toward better educating public health professionals.

If properly funded and staffed and armed with proper data, solid partnerships, and the best technologies available, public health agencies can effectively protect against future health threats and build a foundation for achieving the optimal and equitable health of every person in our nation.
29 Νοε 2021 · Invest in the frontline public health workforce to be able to detect and rapidly respond to emerging outbreaks. Strengthen public health systems at the local level that can be rapidly scaled up when needed and are integrated with the health system and social services.
16 Μαΐ 2024 · The 10 Essential Public Health Services (EPHS) describe the public health activities that all communities should undertake. To achieve equity, the EPHS actively promote policies, systems, and overall community conditions that enable optimal health for all and seek to remove systemic and structural barriers that have resulted in health inequities.
Governmental public health agencies at all levels should use existing and emerging tools (including information technologies) for effective management of public health information and for internal and external communication.
