Inspired by the goodness and zeal of St. Francis de Sales, Don Bosco formed a religious congregation in 1859 and called them society of St. Francis de Sales who are now popularly known as Salesians of Don Bosco.
The Salesians of Don Bosco (or the Salesian Society, officially named the Society of St. Francis de Sales) is a Roman Catholic religious institute founded in the late nineteenth century by Saint John Bosco to help poor youths and children during the Industrial Revolution.

13 Ιαν 2023 · Fr Michael Kazembe Mbandama, SDB has been appointed as the Provincial for the Salesians of Don Bosco in Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Namibia (ZMB). This is for period of six years (2023-2029). Fr Christopher Rychcik the outgoing Zambia Provincial Superior has disclosed the development.
