The hardhead catfish (Ariopsis felis) is a species of sea catfish from the northwest Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, and similar to the gafftopsail catfish (Bagre marinus). It is one of four species in the genus Ariopsis. [ 3 ] .
Hardhead Catfish Hardhead is the most common of the two saltwater species. They have a brownish to gray-green body, with a white to yellowish belly and can grow up to 24 inches (12 pounds).
9 Δεκ 2019 · Hardheads, the second most caught saltwater catfish, are known for injuring anglers. Their fin contains a toxin that is not found in all species of catfish. When an angler gets finned, this toxin is then released, resulting in significant swelling and an extreme amount of pain.

25 Ιαν 2018 · The two types of saltwater catfish that live along the southeast Atlantic and Gulf coasts of North America are the gafftopsail catfish and the hardhead catfish. Both varieties are regularly caught by onshore and inshore anglers, most of whom are actually fishing for more glamorous species.
