Living successfully in the college houses requires students to balance individual freedom with a sensitivity to and respect for the rights of others. The 41 houses and complexes range in style from modern to Gothic to classic revival.
Unlike most institutions of its type, the College does not have dorms, but rather 36 separate houses built over time in different architectural styles. This was conceived as a more "domestic" model, and as a way of enforcing socially-approved behavior among the young women attending, including the avoidance of lesbian relationships.

The Friedman apartment complex on Paradise Road, completed in 2016, has 18 four-person apartments. The complex consists of five buildings with four apartments in each building (two apartments on each floor), and four single rooms in each apartment.
