15 Απρ 2016 · In the late twentieth century, South Carolina farmers produced a diverse variety of plant and animal crops including grains, fruits, vegetables, poultry, cattle, and hogs as well as some cotton and tobacco.
28 Μαΐ 2024 · The market value of crops grown in South Carolina, including nursery and greenhouse crops, totaled more than $1.6 billion in 2022. The market value of livestock, poultry and their products, including beef, pork, chicken, dairy and eggs, came to over $2.8 billion.
South Carolina's top ten commodities are broilers, turkeys, greenhouse nurseries, cotton, corn, cattle, soybeans, peanuts, eggs, and wheat. There are nearly 25,000 farms in South Carolina amounting to nearly 5 million acres of farmland. Two-thirds of the land in the state is covered by forests.
South Carolina has more than 22,000 farms spread across its landscape, with an average size of 201 acres each. In total, they encompass more than 4.5 million acres of land. Farmers grow and raise the state’s many agricultural products including the top commodities – broilers, turkeys, greenhouse and nursery products, cotton, and corn.
