12 Σεπ 2023 · State Representative Jonathan Patterson was elected to serve as the next Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives by members of the Majority Caucus on Tuesday. A release said Patterson was chosen by a vote of his caucus colleagues in the House.
The Speaker of the House is the most powerful individual in the chamber, elected by all members of the House. The Speaker makes an additional $2,500 per year in accordance with state law. Representatives are term-limited to a maximum of four terms, or eight years, in the chamber.
