Welcome to the Stanislaus County Behavioral Health Services Act website. The Behavioral Health Services Act provides funding to counties to expand and develop innovative, integrated services for children, adults, and older adults.
In Stanislaus County, the Department of Mental Health's budget has dropped $18.5 million in the past five years, about 21 percent. The county closed three out of five mental health clinics in 2006, and scoured its caseload, removing 365 of the more stable patients from its rolls.
Stanislaus County is one of the first seven counties in California to implement the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Act, a state law to help those with mental health disorders access treatment.
CARE is a multidisciplinary team of mental health, criminal justice, and other service providers who facilitate, provide, and share responsibilities of assessment coordination and treatment services to appropriately meet the complex mental, physical, and social needs of the targeted population.
The Stanislaus County Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is an acute inpatient program licensed by the State of California for individuals experiencing an acute emergency related to a mental health disorder, where they can receive intensive mental health and psychiatric treatment services to assist in the stabilization of the episode.
