Experience unique views of the Oregon Coast and Nehalem Bay on scenic train rides offered from the end of May through the beginning of September. Watch bald eagles and pelicans soar on the wind around you, dancing with the salty mist from the ocean waves crashing against exposed cliffs.
The scenic railroad operates the line from the Tillamook Air Museum blimp hangar northward through the communities of Garibaldi, Rockaway Beach, and Wheeler. From there, the tracks turn eastward into the remote and breathtaking Nehalem and Salmonberry River canyons.
The railroad travels on tracks that pass along the edge of Tillamook Bay and the Oregon Coast, and through thick forest along the Nehalem River. [2]
Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad (OCSR) is a unique heritage railroading museum in that it not only has static displays of engines and historic artifacts but also provides interpreted train rides along the coast.
12 Ιουλ 2013 · It’s rare to combine an Oregon history lesson with outdoor recreation, but in Tillamook County you touch history by “riding the rails” on a unique steam engine train ride. In Garibaldi, the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad connects passengers with recreation that reaches back more than a century.
Thanks to the Port of Tillamook, the two men were able to start running in 2003 and have been growing the organization ever since. Their train, which runs on 42 miles of track, but usually only makes trips that are anywhere from 10 to 25 miles in length.
